Nano Campeggi
At the invitation of the Uffizi Gallery and the Pitti Palace, we spent last
September in Italy doing research on the Italian Futurists.
We also had the fortune to become friends with Florence’s greatest
living artist. You likely haven’t heard the name Nano Campeggi, but
you’ll instantly recognize his work – he has illustrated the posters for
over 3000 mid 20th Century movies – 64 of them Oscar winners!

Remember the 4 white chariot stallions bursting from the Ben Hur
poster? That’s Campeggi! Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh embracing while
Atlanta burns in Gone With The Wind? Campeggi! Casablanca? An
American in Paris? Exodus? Gigi? West Side Story?  All Campeggi!!!

Now here’s the exciting part –
His original portrait illustrations for many of the works
 are being released for sale!

As a prelude to an upcoming Campeggi Exhibition, we'll be showing some of these at
Toronto's oldest antiques event, The Summer Antiques Sale at Sherway Gardens.

Hope to see you there!
